THE European Union said the bloc has “taken note” of the surprise result of DR Congo’s controversial presidential election, as well as objections by runner-up Martin Fayulu that the outcome amounted to a “coup,” as it urged citizens to steer clear of violence.
Part of the Congolese community living in Mombasa have expressed their satisfaction with election results in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
This is not the outcome that the incumbent president initially wanted.
The Congolese can rightly celebrate Joseph Kabila’s departure. But the disputed election to replace him has left the country on edge.
